I enjoyed this topic as the authors discussed it, because I find myself thinking about this a lot. How interesting SNS's would be if people chose to only express their true, actualized selves on the daily basis, versus expressing themselves as an idealized self they want to portray to others! This is the reason why I can barely use SNS's anymore, especially Instagram, because most of the posts I see nowadays are posts shared by social media influencers advertising their lavish seeming and perfect lifestyles, or people I know also portraying idealized versions of themselves, and it really causes me to disengage from the app completely, as I feel I am being advertised and shown a faux lifestyle, as well as making me feel unaccomplished in mine. I much rather prefer SNS's such as twitter, or even reddit, where I feel like the people I interact with tend to be a lot more honest about their lifestyles, and where I am not pressured to hide insecurities, or even post only perfection, instead mistakes and my actualized and flawed self feels a lot more comfortable, when I don't constantly have unrealistic lifestyles shoved down my throat. I also believe it really depends on who you follow/interact with as well!
